Leisure Club Day Trips 2020
Please note that due to Coronavirus the planned day trips in 2020 have been cancelled. This will be reviewed later in 2020 and some may be reinstated depending upon advice.
Llandrindod Wells Wales – 30th April to 5th May 2020
The destination for the 2020 trip will be to The Hotel Metropole and Spa located in the town of Llandrindod Wells, Wales. From here we are centrally placed to tour Mid Wales and the border county of Herefordshire. Mid Wales is described as “hidden” Wales and the countryside views are quite beautiful. Derek and I have just returned from our pre-trip reconnoitre and we are very grateful to have been accompanied by Harry and Carol Pugh. We covered a lot of ground and were delighted to see beautiful scenery and meet with very helpful and friendly people on our tour. The itinerary will cover a visit to Brecon including narrow boat trip on Monmouth and Brecon canal, Welshpool for a steam train ride, Powis Castle, Hampton Court Castle, the Elan Valley, Hereford Cathedral, a mystery house which is an absolute delight, plus two interesting museums. Most of our planned visits will include guided tours. The properties we will visit are magnificent, all different and of superb standard and situated in splendid grounds for you to explore.
This is a five night, six day package holiday, departing from Battle on the 30th April and returning on the 5th May. Accommodation at the Four Star rated Metropole Hotel, Llandrindod Wells, with estimated costs being on a bed, breakfast and evening meal basis. The hotel is privately owned and the Head Chef sources the finest local ingredients. There will be a choice of menu and special diets can be catered for. There is a spacious bar area, comfortable lounge, a fully equipped gym and indoor swimming pool. All the en-suite rooms have comfortable beds, flat screen TV’s and tea and coffee making facilities. Whilst there are no ground floor rooms, lifts are available to all floors.
The cost will be approximately £618.00 for National Trust members and £630.00 for non National Trust Members. This will include all tips and entrance fees where applicable.
We have reserved 16 twin/double rooms and 18 single rooms at no additional charge. Some of the rooms have a walk in shower. Please let me know as soon as possible if you wish to avail yourself of either a single room and/or one with a walk in shower. Some rooms will have a low step into the shower, however, if you require a mobility adapted room please contact me to discuss the options.
As part of our pre-trip planning we stayed at the hotel and visited most of the attractions and I therefore feel well placed to be able to answer any queries or questions you might have. Please be assured that there will be frequent comfort breaks during each coach journey both to and from Battle.
Airedale Travel offers complimentary cancellation insurance arranged through Towergate Underwriting Group Limited and this has to be opted into at the time of booking. Muffin Beer Walks
Beer Walks have become an established part of of the Muffin Club annual programme and usually take place on the last Tuesday of May, June, July and August each Year.
On a typical walk a total of 11 set out on a short circular walk East of Robertsbridge. A great morning! The wild flowers still had their heads up above the nettles and brambles and the Woodland still had an open aspect.
The walk not only took in some splendid countryside but included several “extras”: The lovely tiny Church on Pett Level with its annexe collection of old photographs, the quirky beach houses and the Pannel Valley Nature Reserve. The ramble ended at the Salehurst Halt pub where a suitable libation and good food was a well earned reward for all.
