Beer Walks 2017

Beer Walks have become an established part of of the Muffin Club annual programme and, for 2017, take place on the last Tuesday of May, June, July and August.
On the 30th May a total of 11 set out on a short circular walk East of Robertsbridge. A great morning! The wild flowers still had their heads up above the nettles and brambles and the Woodland still had an open aspect.

The walk on the 27th June not only took in some splendid countryside but included several "extras": The lovely tiny Church on Pett Level with its annexe collection of old photographs, the quirky beach houses and the Pannel Valley Nature Reserve.

Candy Floss and Roll-a-Penny

The Battle Muffin Club regularly support the Town's Abbey Green events.

For the Easter Marbles event the Club sponsor the Children's Marbles Scramble, and enter both Men's and Women's Teams in the Marbles Competition. The Club runs a Candy Floss stall.

For the Medieval Fayre, at the end of May each year, two stalls are manned: Roll-a-Penny and Candy Floss and the Club assist as Parade marshals.

These stalls add content to the events for the benefit of the Town generally. They are a popular attraction especially for the under 10s (and many adults!) and
raise significant sums for local charities. In
May this year (2017) a total of £407 was
Both men and ladies teams are entered for the Easter Marbles competition with mixed outcome.  In 2017 the Ladies team (below) are to be congratulated as outright winners of the competition; the men, meanwhile, after several years of trying, are yet to get past the first round!

Sunday 13th May Leader Martin Hole:  Orchid Walk  Starts 10.00 a.m.

On Sunday 13th May we have arranged a walk in orchid fields on Pevensey Marshes with Martin Hole of Montague Farm. A few will remember doing this walk several years ago after Martin came to talk to Muffins.

The fields have been impoverished over very many years to create the ideal growing conditions for these wild and very beautiful orchids. They are on Martin’s land and so you cannot access them without him!

He has kindly agreed to lead us again in a very gentle stroll and will give a commentary not only on the orchids but other natural life of the marshes. Don’t miss this - it really is a life enhancing experience.

                  Final details to follow.
